ABOUT US

SHWARI is a wellness brand specialising in the Mindful Breathing Necklace.

Our daily lives are often filled with constant busyness, whether it's our minds racing at full speed or our bodies managing everyday challenges. We're bombarded with countless thoughts and constant phone notifications. This whirlwind takes a toll on mental well-being. Our Mindful Breathing Necklace helps break this cycle by guiding you to slow and lengthen your exhales, which in turn reduces cortisol (the stress hormone), lowers blood pressure and calms your heart rate.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Turning my pain into purpose...

“Hey there! I’m Soniya, founder of SHWARI. I created SHWARI in 2021 while I was in therapy to help navigate my own journey with severe anxiety and depression. I've struggled with medical anxiety for many years, largely due to living with my ultra-rare disease. Alongside that, I’ve faced social anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. In an effort to manage my stress and anxiety, I began practicing meditation and breathwork, which proved to be incredibly helpful. It also made me realise that many people aren’t aware of the power of mindful breathing and how truly effective it can be. After researching helpful breathing tools and devices, I introduced our SHWARI Mindful Breathing necklaces to my online community. I knew this product was a perfect fit for my brand. It made such a difference for me, and now I want to help you too."

Where does the name SHWARI come from and what does it mean?

“SHWARI means 'Calm' in Swahili, one of the languages spoken across Africa. Although my native language is Gujarati, my father was born in Africa, so many of the words we use are a mix of Swahili and Gujarati.

The word 'calm' is deeply meaningful to me, not just because of my own battles with anxiety, panic attacks, and depression, but also because, over the years, I’ve witnessed a remarkable change in my father. Once quick-tempered and easily frustrated, he has become a person who now embodies calmness. Over time, he has taught me, my children and the rest of our family the importance of staying composed and thinking before reacting. Hearing him speak about the power of deep breathing, meditation, and finding inner peace has truly brought a sense of calm into our family’s life. Meditation, breathwork and yoga is something my mother has also been practicing for many years. She has always encouraged me to incorporate these practices into my own life, particularly given the challenges I have faced with my physical and mental wellbeing.

SHWARI holds deep personal meaning for me, and I wanted every element of the brand to reflect that. The concrete colour represents my strength, while the rune symbol in the logo stands for peace and tranquillity. The rune symbol also reflects my spiritual side and my connection to ancient traditions. This is what SHWARI is all about - we’re here to help bring calm, peace, and tranquillity into your life, while reminding you of your inner strength and resilience."
